Domaine De Baudry Prints Marmalade & Confectionery Labels In-House

Local French favorite confectionery, Domaine De Baudry, uses a QuickLabel® QL-300 to efficiently print premium, high-quality confectionery labels on-site.

In the quaint town of Saint-Hilaire de Pionsat, located in the heart of the Auvergne region, in a scenic, charming village, you’ll find Domain De Baudry. A multi-generational family-owned marmalade and confectionary company, equipped with an on-site factory, store, museum, and restaurant, Baudry is a local favorite.

Making and packaging their regional products all in-house requires a reliable, quality, labeling solution.

Vincent Bône, Baudry’s Company Manger, speaks highly of the company legacy and products.
Bône’s father was a farmer and started the company in the 1970s on a raspberry plantation, where Baudry still resides today.  Once a small operation, today, they have more than 150 varieties of jams. With the introduction of the QuickLabel QL-300, a five-color toner-based label printer, Baudry can now quickly and effectively label their products.

Small Batches and Efficient Labeling

“Before we got the QL-300, we used laser-color photocopiers with cutouts – very tedious work.  The printers we worked with had problems with deadlines, quantity, and with stock”, said Bône.  “When I saw the QL-300, I thought it was the machine we needed.”

Using local whole fruits, all-natural flavors and traditional, family recipes, Baudry creates, labels, and sells a variety of products.  From marmalades to wines, beers, honey, and a wide selection of oils, Baudry needs a reliable labeling solution suitable for a full line of products.

“…The QL-300 allows us in small quantities and in a flexible way, to make rolls and adapt them to our automatic labelers. So it’s rather simple to make labels with the QL-300”, says Bône.

Label Durability

Baudry prides itself on seeking the “good taste of our childhood.”  Since the family takes a lot of pride in crafting these gourmet products, and their branding holds a lot of significance,  they needed a solution that wouldn’t cause label wear or tarnishing over time.   Because jam has a long shelf life, label durability was a priority to the family when searching for a labeling solution.  Luckily, they were able to find that required durability with the QL-300.  Says Bône, “what’s nice about the QL-300 is that it allows us to go farther in the offer we can make to our customers, so now we can offer Kraft labels, transparent labels, and completely white labels.”

Top 4 Reasons Why You Should Be Printing Prepared Food Labels In-House

Many companies outsource their product labels to save on costs and maintain production efficiency. But when you break it down, is outsourcing really the most efficient route? Depending on your business size and needs, it could be more beneficial printing prepared food labels in-house.

Here are the top four reasons why taking label production in-house can be the better option:

1. Outsourced Printing Comes at a Price

While using another facility to produce your prepared food labels might seem like a giant weight off your shoulders, it may not necessarily be the case.  Outsourcing can end up severely delaying your labeling process, costing your business valuable time and money.

For example, if an outsourced label shipment becomes delayed, so will the orders your company was scheduled to have in stock and on the shelves. These delays will happen, as do errors.

Misprints can cause setbacks and affect the use by/sell by dates on your products. This is especially true for made to order businesses and prepared foods.

prepared food labelsThe best way to avoid these dilemmas is by investing in a small, short-run digital label printer to easily bring production in-house.

On implementing short-run digital label printers in-house, Impression Technology Europe reveals, “Not only is the initial investment much more affordable but the cost per print is extremely low. After doing the math, most clients will find it will be much more cost-effective than outsourcing, and based on the output.”

Our main alternative to outsourcing, investing in an in-house digital label printer will not only save you time but also reduce cost-per-label.

2. NOT ALL ENVIRONMENTS ARE CREATED EQUAL

frozen food labelsPrinting prepared food labels in-house have its benefits when varying environmental requirements come into play.

Just because some prepared foods need to be frozen, doesn’t mean the quality and appearance of your packaging should suffer. Your store’s frozen foods need to remain cohesive with the rest of your prepared food line. After all, it is your brand. However, using the wrong label for the products environment can lead to wrinkles due to condensation, fading due to exposure or loss of adhesion, and labels falling off.

If your business is using regular pre-printed labels, chances are, the labels won’t hold up in your storage environment.

Ultimately, finding the correct label material is just as important to your printed results as your design. AstroNova has developed special materials that are capable of absorbing the inks so that printed labels do not smear and reproduce the most accurate colors possible.

The ability to maintain complete control over your label materials and printing process will allow your business to have a streamlined, efficient process with branded labels that look the part.

One example of an easy in-house printing solution is the QuickLabel QL-120X, or wide-format QL-850 inkjet label printers. These printers are known for printing frozen food labels that are extremely durable.  With the right in-house printer, you’ll have professional frozen food or beverage labels printed instantly and can be applied to products that are already frozen, or before they go into the freezer.

3. It’s Not Easy to Keep Up with FDA Regulations & Demands

label nutrition facts table

Keeping up with the FDA’s changing regulations and formats can greatly affect your product labels. If standards are not met, your entire product line could suffer from massive recalls.

This intimidating process includes font restrictions, mandatory statements, allergen alerts, and stringent calculations for daily values.

As a food manufacturer or grocer, you want to spend your energy on your recipes, production, branding, and sales – not on interpreting FDA labeling mandates.

While it is absolutely necessary to adhere to FDA regulations to avoid recalls and present your customers with the quality and transparency they deserve, you can make it easier on your business.

This is where an in-house label printer truly shines. For every change in date, rule, format, etc., you can immediately customize your labels on the spot.

Printing prepared food labels in-house give you the ability to print the exact number of labels you need on-demand. Meaning no more wasted labels, no more overstock, and no more falling short.  This gives you more flexibility in your printing process, as well as introducing the option for seasonal or promotional packaging.

4. Things Are Better When You’re in Control

Your labels are the face of your brand, so you always want to maintain professionalism and put your best foot forward. If you want to be in control of your business and remove exterior dilemmas, it may be time to consider printing prepared food labels in-house.

How to Make Your Custom Cosmetics Labels Attractive and Effective

In the cosmetics industry, looks matter. There’s a lot of pressure for product packaging to portray the end results –even when working with small surfaces.  But while trying to catch the consumer’s eye, there are still regulations products must follow. So how can you make your custom cosmetic labels both attractive and effective?

First Things First: Product Requirements

Regardless of your product line, you need to be aware of the industry requirements for cosmetics labels.  What are the most common rules and regulations for labeling in the cosmetics industry?

According to the Federal Food, Drug, and Cosmetic Act, it is prohibited to market cosmetics that are adulterated or misbranded as well as while in interstate commerce.  FDA regulations are required for any product, except soap, intended to be applied to the human body for cleansing, beautifying, promoting attractiveness, or altering the appearance.

A cosmetics label is considered misbranded if:

  • labeling is false or misleading
  • the label does not state the name and address of the manufacturer, packer, or distributor or the net quantity of contents
  • the required information is not stated prominently, with conspicuousness, and in terms that it is read and understood by consumers under customary conditions of purchase and use the container or its fill is misleading

Read the full list of FDA cosmetics labeling standards here.

Make Compliance Easier

cosmetics labelingEnsure products meet all FDA regulations and easily maintain labels with an in-house label printer – this includes overseas,  certifying compliance within each country.

Meanwhile, printing in-house also offers a much more affordable option compared to outsourced printing. By printing in your facility, you have the ability to produce large or short runs of labels as needed with expiration dates, ingredients lists, allergen warnings, barcodes, organic and natural certifications.

Make Sure Your Products Have What They Need

In addition to FDA requirements, environmental exposure can require a higher need for durability.

If you offer lotion, body wash, or facial cleansers, you may want to consider a printer that applies water-resistant labels. This will help protect your labels from fading or peeling.  Utilizing these resistant labels will bring your products to another level of professionalism. By adhering to both FDA standards and product needs, your cosmetics will perform effectively.

Watch how CJ’s Unique Boutique uses their durable QuickLabel printer to label all of their lotions and creams:

Stand Out On The Shelves!

Looks matter in this industry.

Makers of cosmetics and personal care products don’t just need a lot of labels – they need a lot of different labels. One body lotion alone can be available in dozens of different scents, an array of bottles, tubs, and more.  Your product packaging is what makes you stand out from the competition. What catches eyes on the shelves can be the difference between the purchase of your brand over competitors.

If you’re looking for a cost-effective way to enhance your cosmetics label designs, an in-house label printer is the best solution.  For instance, not only will printing cosmetics labels in-house save money, but it is perfect for short-runs of seasonal products, new scents, sizes, and formulations – especially when it comes to the design process.

Using your own label printer will allow you to control your label from start to finish – making sure it showcases your product as envisioned.

3 Easy Steps to Make Your Wine and Beer Labels Stand Out

If you brew beer or bottle wine, you already know the challenges that occur once your products are sent to the market. You need to make your wine and beer labels stand out in order to get on the consumer’s radar.

The shadows of big brands make it extremely difficult for new, local breweries and wineries to thrive. Here are a few tips to help make your products stand out.

How Do They Do It?

With well-known brands, it’s easy for consumers to walk into a store and pluck a product off the shelves.

It’s all in the packaging and product branding.

The familiarity, years of experience, and trustworthiness of a brand make these decisions a no-brainer. But everyone has to start somewhere, right?

What Can You do to Make Your Brews Stand Out?

After determining the basics, there are a few extra things you need to make your wine and beer labels stand out and give your brand that extra push.

1. It’s All in the Packaging

Humans are visual beings, so first impressions matter. Especially when targeting first-time buyers browsing through the aisles of their local liquor store.

In fact, the human brain processes image 60,000 times faster than text, and 90 percent of information transmitted to the brain is visual.

Since consumers can only view your products as they browse, what they find aesthetically pleasing makes all the difference.

According to Barrett Brynestad, Associate Creative Director/Designer for TDA Boulder, the package should tell consumers as much as possible about the beer, from the occasion to taste profile and overall brand ethos.

Our advice: Design your product label well and design it to be easily recognized. It can be as simple as your color scheme and font, qualifying image or logo, etc. Whatever it is, it has to be unique to you. Investing in a talented artist or graphic designer always helps.

After all, your brand logo is arguably the most important part of your product.

Check out some examples of branded beer labels that understand the importance of story-telling branding.

2. Save Face on the Shelves…and Money in Your Pocket

Once you have successfully created your brand label, it’s time to start labeling your cans and bottles.

Outsourced printing can get expensive. For local wineries or breweries, it may be wiser to print your product labels in-house. In addition to avoiding fees and delays, you’ll be able to control the entire process within your own facility.

If you choose to print in-house, you must make sure the label printer meets all the requirements your products need.

For example, wine and beer displayed in store freezers or chilling in coolers need labels that withstand frozen temperatures.

After all, it wouldn’t look very professional to have your labels wrinkling from condensation or losing adhesion and peeling off.

In combination, your printing system needs to produce clear, vivid, photo-quality labels to attract the consumers’ eye – and make your wine and beer labels stand out!

QuickLabel’s line of in-house label printers allows your business to meet all the requirements (aesthetic and physical) for printing labels on-demand and in-house.

These printing systems are perfect for the craft beer tradition of experimentation, adaptability and small batch production.

Our advice: Learn more about QuickLabel’s capabilities and benefits with printing frozen labels, wine, and beer labels to see if they’re right for your business. You can also browse the full line of in-house color label printers here.

3. Get Your Name Out There!

It’s time. You’ve made a solid brand name for yourself with the packaging (and product) to prove it.

Investing in trade shows, tastings at local liquor stores and advertising (print or video), is the next step in getting your brand recognized. The more people see your product, the more natural it becomes to pick it up.

Our advice: By promoting your brand, you are showing consumers that you are real; you have a story and a taste unique to your product. By investing in these promotions, you are building the trust of your brand.

These three steps will change the way your wine and beer products are perceived – now a known brand rising above the sea of shelves. Good luck!

Why is it Important for Printers to be BS5609 Certified?

Did you know not all labels meet the requirements to be considered BS5609 certified?

If your business generates products that require this certification, such as chemical jugs, hardware, and industrial product labels, and more, it is important to know what BS5609 is and the standards that need to be met.

What is BS5609?

BS5609 certifiedBS5609 is the internationally recognized British Standard for pressure-sensitive adhesive labels used for overseas shipping. Also known as the Marine Immersion Label Testing Standard, chemical manufacturers refer to this standard when their labels are used on hazardous chemical containers transported by sea.

BS5609 certification establishes whether or not labels remain adhesive and readable on containers and barrels, after prolonged exposure to the ocean environment including both seawater and sand abrasion.

Elements, including those required by GHS, such as red and black ink of GHS pictograms, hazard statements and health warnings all must remain identifiable on the label with slight or no color change or print removal in order to pass BS5609 testing.

Where Can You Get BS5609 Certified Labels?

Surprisingly enough, you can print them yourself. With some help, of course.

QuickLabel now has a line of BS5609 certified label printers for GHS labels. These label printers are available in three models for various label sizes, all of which are able to produce BS5609-compliant labels.

Not only will you remain compliant, but you can print all of your labels in short-runs, in-house.

Eric Pizzuti, Vice President of QuickLabel states, “We are confident that our Kiaro! D label printers and our BS5609 certified labels and inks comprise the most durable, reliable, and easy-to-use GHS label printing solution on the market.”

Pizzuti continues, “Chemical producers who need to print black and red GHS labels for bottles and cartons will be pleased to know that they can also print their front-panel primary display labels in full-color using the Kiaro! D, which boasts excellent print quality and 1200 dpi resolution.”

QuickLabel’s Family of BS5609 Label Printers

Thanks to cutting-edge pigment ink formulation and QuickLabel’s qualified label stocks, labels printed by the Kiaro! D comply with GHS hazard warning labeling regulations and BS5609 certification, one of the most stringent physical label standards in the world.

4 Reasons Why You Should Be Making Your Own Food & Beverage Labels

Many companies outsource their product labels to save financially and produce efficiently. But is outsourcing really the most efficient route? For small to medium-sized business owners, outsourcing is not always the best solution. Depending on your business size and needs, you may be better off making your own food & beverage labels in-house.

Impression Technology Europe explains, “Recently, another type of printing has become more attainable for smaller companies…digital ‘short run’ label printers. Not only is the initial investment much more affordable but the cost per print is extremely low. After doing the math, most clients will find it will be much more cost-effective than outsourcing, and based on the output.”

How do you know if this is right for you? Here are four reasons why you should be making your own food & beverage labels in-house:

1. Outsourced Printing Comes at a Price

We mean that both literally and figuratively. While using another facility to generate your food labels might seem like a weight off your shoulders, that may not be the case.

Passing the task to an outside source can end up severely delaying your labeling process. Why? Not only will you have your company’s shipping schedule to track, but the arrival of your outsourced shipment as well.

If an outsourced shipment becomes delayed, so will the orders your company was originally scheduled to deliver. For small business owners, this can lead to a lot of unhappy customers or market vendors.

These delays will happen, and so do errors. Labeling errors can take more of a toll on your business production line than a delay in shipment.

The unexpected misprint forces your business to return and reorder labels. Misprints can cause setbacks and affect the use by/sell by dates on your products. This is especially true for made to order businesses, which can lead to wasted products.

If your business has experienced these delays, you may want to consider an in-house or on-demand label printer. With the ability to print labels in your own facility, there will be no more error or shipment delays affecting your product line. What’s more, these printers give you the ability to create your own use by/sell by dates with complete label customization.

2. Not All Environments Are Created Equal

frozen food labelsMaking your own food & beverage labels is also a huge plus when selling products that must be stored in specific environmental requirements.

Frozen foods need to have unique and attractive labels, too. After all, it is your brand. But, it’s equally important that your frozen food labels don’t fail. Using the wrong label can lead to wrinkles due to condensation, fading due to exposure or loss of adhesion, falling off in low temperatures. One should not be sacrificed for the other.

If your business is using regular pre-printed labels, chances are, the labels won’t hold up in your storage environment.

The ability to maintain complete control over your label materials and printing process will allow your business to have a streamlined, efficient process with branded labels that look the part.

An easy in-house printing solution is the QuickLabel QL-120X or QL-850 inkjet label printers. Also, the QL-300 toner-based label printer is a durable option that prints white on a variety of label types such as colored, metallic, and kraft labels. These printers are known for printing frozen food labels that don’t peel off in high-quality 1200 dpi imagery.

With the right in-house printer, you’ll have professional frozen food or beverage labels printed instantly and can be applied to products that are already frozen, or before they go into the freezer.

3. Keep Up with FDA Regulations

Of course, keeping up with the FDA’s changing regulations and formats can greatly affect your product labels.

The intimidating process includes font restrictions, mandatory statements, allergen alerts, and difficult calculations for daily values.

As a food manufacturer, you want to spend your energy on your recipes, production, branding, and sales – not on interpreting FDA labeling mandates or trying to explain the requirements to an outside vendor.

However, it is absolutely necessary to adhere to FDA regulations to avoid recalls and present your customers with the quality and transparency they deserve.

An in-house label printer is especially valuable in these situations. For every change, the label design and format can be immediately customized in your own facility.

What’s more, by owning an in-house label printer, you don’t have to worry about overstock or wasted labels due to changes in regulations. This gives you more flexibility in your printing process, introducing the option of seasonal or promotional runs.

Making your own food & beverage labels gives you the ability to print the exact number of labels you need for what’s in-stock, on-demand.

4. You Deserve to Be In Control of Your Business

QL-120X | Food LabelsYour labels are the face of your brand, so you always want to put your best foot forward.

With outsourced labels, you don’t get to have complete control over your labeling process. Edits take longer, shipments get delayed and labels are bound to be wasted.

In-house printing has evolved with small, tabletop label printers for businesses. These label printers serve as a central database, with the ability to store, revise, locate and print any design on-demand –ultimately opening new doors for small to medium-sized businesses.

If you want to be in control of your business or are experiencing any of the above labeling issues, it may be time to consider taking your production line in-house.

QuickLabel specializes in on-demand, tabletop label printers. For someone in the food and beverage industry interested in quality, short-run labels, they are worth looking in to.

How to Read & Label Chemical Cleaning Supplies

Not all JanSan labels are easy to get approved. If you handle sanitation or chemical supplies, you know there are specific marks and content that must appear on the product labels.

In this post, you will gain insight into chemical and GHS label markings and how to label them. In addition, we will cover how utilizing an on-demand color label printer can provide the best labeling solution for your products.

What Are GHS and Chemical Regulations?

Janitorial and sanitation products are among the chemicals that require color-coded chemical hazard identification labels in compliance with GHS Labeling regulations.

GHS stands for Globally Harmonized System of Classification and Labeling of Chemicals, which are usually represented as red and black pictograms.

Also known as graphic symbols, pictograms are used to communicate specific information about the hazards of a chemical. The GHS regulation standards use a total of nine pictograms.

The purpose of these symbols is to provide workers with better information on the safe handling and use of hazardous chemicals, thereby allowing them (or anyone handling the product) to avoid injuries and illnesses related to exposures to hazardous chemicals.

To read more on each GHS classification symbol, with a more in-depth review of each, please view our white paper GHS Chemical Labeling Compliance: Requirements & Solutions.

What to Include on Chemical Cleaning Supply Labels

The Hazard Communication Standard (HCS) states, “chemical manufacturers, importers, or distributors must ensure that each container of hazardous chemicals is labeled, tagged or marked with the following information: product identifier; signal word; hazard statement(s); precautionary 1 2 statement(s); and pictogram(s); and name, address and telephone number of the chemical manufacturer, importer, or other responsible parties.”

Make Compliance Easier by Printing Compliant Labels In-House

Now that you have a better understanding of the labeling requirements, what’s the best way to create your labels?

If you are in the industry, you already know most GHS label printers offer the ability to print GHS compliant labels in just two colors, red and black.

An ideal durable label printer, QuickLabel tabletop label printer has the ability to instantly print full-color GHS JanSan labels in 1200 dpi resolution.

The QuickLabel “D” printers produce durable, pigment based labels that are able to withstand water, dirt, exposure, abrasion, and hazardous chemicals while maintaining color-fastness.

So, with a QL-120D, you can print your entire chemical label in seconds, including your logo and primary display panel graphics and the red and black GHS pictograms, text, barcode, and serializations.

See What the Extra-Durable, GHS Compliant Kiaro! D is Capable of:

Printing in full color, 1200 dpi allows your compliant GHS labels to send two messages:

1. A responsible manufacturer has packaged the product safely.

2. The company logo and branding stand out from other competitors.

A QuickLabel printer provides valuable competitive advantages by maintaining GHS compliance and showing off signature brands.

Stand Out on the Shelves

While other companies are stuck with identical packaging, you have the option to stand out with custom messaging. Your custom label and verbiage will ensure customers and clients know exactly who manufactures their chemicals.

To get the perfect package, we recommend using labeling software in addition to an in-house label printer. Labeling software allows you to link your database of chemical descriptions with a label printer for accuracy.

With a robust color label printer such as the QL-120D and a fully-featured GHS labeling software such as NiceLabel, it is easy to become compliant and maintain compliance.

Personalized Seasoning Labels Add Flavor for J.O. Spice

Considering that it’s the state’s official crustacean, it’s safe to say that Maryland is known for its love of the blue crab. For the past 67 years, one company has been in the business of making this local delicacy even more delicious: J.O. Spice. “J.O. Spice is the flavor of Maryland!” said Kathleen Duncan, one of the company’s enthusiastic employees. “When you enjoy seafood in our state, especially crabs, I can almost guarantee that you are tasting J.O. Spice.”

People in the Chesapeake Bay area ask for J.O. Spice crab seasoning by name. One of Maryland’s best kept secrets, J.O. Spice’s seafood seasonings, spices, batters, breading, and soups are also used in virtually every crab house and seafood restaurant along the East Coast – pretty impressive!

Cracking Into Custom Label Printing …

Whenever there is a special event going on in the Baltimore area, crab lovers want to incorporate their favorite meal into the event. J.O. Spice’s custom-labeled spices and seasonings have become popular wedding favors and are often paired with their personalized crab mallets.

Printing Custom Spice Labels Since 1945

Since their opening in 1945, J.O. has been custom blending and custom labeling their line of spices for restaurants. “We’ve always offered custom labeled seasoning and spices,” explains Duncan, “but as technology has advanced so has the demand for custom seasoning labels.”

When J.O. Spice realized they needed to seasoning labelsbring label printing in-house in order to keep up with the demand for custom labels, they had some decisions to make. One was to find an in-house label printer capable of printing the kind of seasoning labels they wanted to offer to their customers.

When they discovered QuickLabel Systems, J.O. settled on two of our color label printers: the Zeo! light-duty inkjet label printer and the Vivo! Touch production-capacity label printer. “The Vivo! Touch and the Zeo! label printers have advanced the quality of our label printing needs,” said Duncan.

J.O. Spice’s local sales engineer, Tony Bucci, explains, “the Vivo! Touch was a solution that provided J.O. Spice high quality, full-color labels like their Zeo! but is much faster & less expensive (per label).”  Bucci gave an on-site demonstration of the Vivo! Touch at J.O. Spice and they were pleased with what they saw, “as soon as I was able to demonstrate the Vivo! Touch and show them the productivity there was no looking back.”

Old-Fashioned Customer Service

If you’re interested in ordering seasonings or spices with personalized labels or custom-engraved mallets, J.O. Spice makes buying as easy and personalized as their products. All you have to do is make an old-fashioned phone call to 1-800-537-5714 or send an email to Ginger (jospiceginger@yahoo.com), Marketing and Sales Manager, and tell her what you want on your personalized product.

Kathleen Duncan will then come up with a seasoning labelsdesign based on what you’re looking for and send you a proof. Duncan is a seasoned (no pun intended!) graphic artist who loves what she does. “Most customers approve their proofs the first time around and are very happy!”  Once the custom label proof is approved, payment can be made by mail or over the phone. “It’s old-fashioned personalized customer service throughout the whole ordering process all the way up to the arrival of your products!” Duncan proudly explained.

Duncan loves hearing the customers’ expressions of appreciation when they see the finished product. “The emails and referrals I receive from happy customers is overwhelming and makes my job very rewarding.”

seasoning labelsAs far as picking her favorite label, Duncan said she can’t – every label she designs is unique in its own right. Duncan strives to tailor each personalized spice label especially for each wedding couple or for each special event. “It’s always fun to let your imagination run wild while designing,” she said. “Seeing the finished product is rewarding. Most times it comes out better than I imagined!”

“It’s amazing how much personality you can bring out in a label by the use of design and color. Now that we have our Vivo! Touch and Zeo!, our color selection is endless.” With “vivid and bold” label colors, Duncan said that she can create label designs from “bold and sassy to simple and understated.”

Luckily, the fact that her QuickLabel printers really deliver makes the time spent designing custom labels for her customers well worth it. “Printing our own labels in-house has allowed us to print a quality label at an affordable price which allows us to offer custom seasoning labeling with a smaller minimum requirement.”

Eat Like a Local, Talk like a Local

Although J.O. Spice has always specialized in seasoning labelsspices and seasonings, they are “more than just a spice company, for sure!” said Duncan. The products in their store range from spices and seasonings to crab mallets and apparel.

I took a lesson in crab lingo when talking to Duncan about the personalized crab mallets. I referred to them as hammers, which gave her a giggle. She shared, “You can always tell when someone is from out of town with inquiries about custom mallets.” How? Just like me, J.O.’s out of town customers will refer to the mallets as “mallets,” “hammers,” “crab crackers,” and “knockers.” “The term we use in Maryland is ‘mallets,’” Duncan said, “but we enjoy hearing all the other terms that are used!”

JO Spice’s Old Fashioned Customer Service Meets QuickLabel’s Customer Support

Being such passionate advocates for customer service, J.O. Spice has high expectations for the service they receive – just as they should! Luckily for us, we have met those expectations.

“The customer service and support from QuickLabel have been great,” Duncan shared with us. “If we ever have a troubleshooting problem everyone at QuickLabel has been great at getting us the support that we need. Our QuickLabel printers have proved to be a great business investment!”
